Perseverance found in Potsdam and Dresden

Today we experienced some of the gradeur and beauty found in the cities of Potsdam and Dresden. Potsdam is just a short 15-mile drive out of Berlin and is home to numerous palaces for Prussia's Hohenzollern royalty. Frederick the Great ruled Prussia in the 18th century and he built many extravagant palaces and other buildings during his reign. This city was also the site of the historic Potsdam Conference in 1945. Harry Truman, Winston Churchill, and Joseph Stalin met here to negotiate retributions for Germany after WWII.
This took perseverance.

We then traveled to Dresden and I was overwhelmed by the impressive baroque architecture of the buildings along the Elbe river. Wow! Dresden was the capital of Saxony in the 18th century with Augustus Strong as it's ruler who happened to love the arts and all things baroque. What is even more amazing is that all of these structures were rebuilt after WWII bombs destroyed everything! Unbelievable perseverance was exemplified. It was surreal sitting along the river listening to a couple of bands play in the courtyard and hearing a choir and symphony rehearse at the Hof-Kirche church. Amazing.

We are in Wittenberg tonight and eager to walk in Luther's footsteps tomorrow. And we all know Luther had a lot of perseverance!! This is most certainly true!
